Costs are based on the volume or weight of your belongings, distance traveled, crew size, and any additional services like packing or storage. We provide binding estimates after an in‑home or virtual survey, so the price you see is the price you pay — no hidden fees.
Yes. Precision Movers is fully licensed by the Illinois Commerce Commission and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT #3284156, MC #102938). We carry comprehensive cargo and liability insurance, and we can provide additional valuation coverage upon request.
We recommend booking 4–6 weeks ahead for local moves and 8–10 weeks for long‑distance relocations, especially during the peak season (May–September). However, we do accept last‑minute moves when availability permits.
Absolutely. We supply all necessary materials — boxes, bubble wrap, packing paper, tape, wardrobe boxes, and custom crates for specialty items. These are included when you opt for our full or partial packing services. You can also purchase materials separately if you prefer to pack yourself.
For safety and regulatory reasons, we cannot transport hazardous materials (paint, propane, chemicals), perishable food, plants (for long‑distance moves), or personal valuables like cash, jewelry, and important documents. We'll provide a full list during your estimate.
A few steps ensure a smooth day: defrost your refrigerator, disconnect appliances, secure loose items, and label boxes clearly. If you're in a condo or high‑rise, reserve the service elevator in advance. Your move coordinator will guide you through a detailed checklist.
In the rare event of damage, our basic carrier liability covers up to $0.60 per pound per article. For higher protection, we offer full‑value replacement plans. Any claim is handled within 30 days, and we work diligently to resolve issues to your satisfaction.
Yes, our 60,000 sq. ft. facility offers short‑ and long‑term storage. You can move your items into storage first and schedule final delivery when your new location is available. We even offer bundled moving+storage discounts.
Definitely. Our specialty team is trained in piano moving, fine art handling, and antique care. We use custom crating, climate‑controlled vehicles, and specialized equipment. Check our Specialty Items page for more details.
We accept cash, certified checks, and all major credit/debit cards. For corporate moves, we also accept purchase orders and ACH transfers. Payment is due upon delivery unless prior arrangements have been made.
